In which

versions of IE? All or just the latest?

Try this, without the IE buffoonery:

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
        data="images/wipefade_shapiroandstern.swf"
        width="395"
        height="61">
  <param name="wmode"
         value="transparent" /> <!-- a value of opaque will probably work, with
                                     less cpu load -->

  <p><img src="images/home_flash.png"
          width="393"
          height="54"
          alt="Shapiro & Stern" /></p>
</object>

I don't have Win available atm, but I believe MSIE is now compliant so may be choking on the old style tomfoolery.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.
