As you may have noticed I made some significant style changes.
They weren't really planned, just a spare of the moment kind of thing.
I was getting sick of looking at the old styles every day.
It looks cleaner and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, would love some feedback or suggested improvements.

Laughing out loud I was just staring at the screen wondering if it was me or not, whether I was losing grip on reality, that, and fact I have just re-set my monitors balance recently which might also have had a bearing on matters.

Looks better less heavy! some text is a little on the thin side, perhaps a font change would help things along?

Time to ditch Arial for something better and take the font size up to 14px at least for tracker / lists

Found a good google font recently 'Lato'

Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks for the suggestion Hugo.
I never really have had any interest in fonts, so I will take a look at Lato.

Do you have any thoughts on link styles, colours for different states etc?

@Hugo - i also thought there

@Hugo - i also thought there was something really wrong with my screen! I just guessed that tony was making quite a few changes in the past couple of days, and thought probably he's making a few more changes.

@Tony - could you please brink back some color to the links? And now we can finally see the background (yay!)

// the links look old school! love them // ~mihir.

Mihir.

Need to balance the margins

Need to balance the margins or add padding to the author panel - many elements not sure best one to add rules to but...

.forum-post-panel-sub .author-pane {
   margin: 5px 10px;
}

I would then open up the avatar size to full width of that inner pane block:

.author-pane .picture img {
 width: 100%;
 height: auto;
}

Might have issues with some images being blurry though, they report as 80x80 so should be ok to allow to the width of the inner panel.

Links? something bothers me about the colours but not sure of alternatives, might work just to select a de-saturated value for them?

Zebra striping of table lists always looks good and simple to do with tr:nth-child(odd) {background : #F5F5FA;}

Inline code examples could do with a little highlighting?

span .css.geshifilter-css {
   background:  #EEE;
}

Going to be controversial now but...

the sidebars niggle with me stuck to the viewport edges, suggest adding margin, pull them off sides:

.block.block-user {
  margin-left: 10px;
}

and same for right sidebar, in (max-width 480px) or what ever is being used it would need the margins equal on sides though.

Thanks guy's most of those suggestions have been implemented.
I will look at some more tomorrow.

Hugo be as controversial as you like. Smile

Mihir the background will only show if your widow is larger then the max-width.
The horizontal scrollbar was most likely due to the top nav width, should be fine now.

More style changes.
I changed the image for users that haven't uploaded a profile picture and added a border, drop-shadow and centered it.

Better but not larger

Better Smile but not larger Smile

I tend - but it's personal preference - to go for subtle shadows to just lift the image from background so tend to always zero the offsets:

box-shadow: 0 0 6px 1px #CCC;

And can see the temptation looking at that new page you've put up on border image, once people get familiar with the property and browser support wide enough we'll be seeing it used a lot.

A little fuzz?

I'm thinking a little blurring of the shadow might be nice, for example {box-shadow: 5px 5px 3px 0 #ccc;}.

cheers,

Tony wrote:

Nah, I'm just naturally cool; don't need shades to make it so. Tongue

Saw the Blues Brothers in concert in Ft Worth; seeing Belushi do continuous cartwheels across more than 100ft of stage was worth the price of admission all by its ownself.

cheers,
