Hi, our company UX standards are to use Segoe UI going forward. I believe this is a Windows 7-introduced font, so I want to embed it in the site using @font-face. Our website runs on DotNetNuke (DNN).

My questions:

- I already specified Segoe UI in my skin.css and container.css in all the font-family declarations, e.g.:

html,body,form{
	font-family: Segoe UI, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	}

The space between 'Segoe' and 'UI' doesn't seem to be an issue with 'font-family'. Will the space be an issue with the @font-face declaration? Here's what I'm going to add to my css:

@font-face { font-family: Segoe UI; src: url('segoeui.ttf'); }
@font-face { font-family: Segoe UI; font-weight: bold; src: url('segoeuib.ttf'); }
@font-face { font-family: Segoe UI; font-style: italic; src: url('segoeuii.ttf'); }
@font-face { font-family: Segoe UI; font-weight: ligher; src: url('segoeuil.ttf'); }

Will 'Segoe UI' with a space be ok? Or should it be 'segoeui'?

Second question:

I have segoeuiz.ttf that is for bold AND italics. Is this the proper way to declare that?

@font-face { font-family: Segoe UI; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; src: url('segoeuiz.ttf'); }

Thank you kindly!

Spaces are generally a no-no

Use quotes around the spaced font name.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

alright...

Thanks for your reply Gary. Do you mean single quotes or double quotes?
I will do it this way then:

@font-face {font-family:'Segoe UI'; src:url('segoeui.ttf'); }

also this?

Should my font-family code also use quotes, like this?

html,body,form{
	font-family: 'Segoe UI', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	}
