I have a table with several cells. In one of the cells (TD element) I want to put another table, and I want that table to expand to fill the height of the cell. I tried CSS such as min-height:100% and height:100% (in IE) and that does not do the job.
What am I missing?

Two points

1) A cell's height is determined by the tallest cell in that row, and since it is not self determinant, there is no metric for its content to reference. Setting a cell's content height by percentage may or not work in a given case.

2) Why would you set a cell's table height if the table's content wouldn't fill the table?

It wouldn't hurt to link the page in question. You may be asking for the wrong thing, but we can't tell without seeing what it is you're doing, and what the content is.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Here is a link

at https://www.rateforsuccess.com/slides2.aspx you can see what I'm trying to do. The pink tables should be as tall as the entire slideshow, and the traffic sign should be near the bottom, far from the right-arrow.
Thanks.
