hello. yet another ie issue. this time with ie7. my top nav is positioned above and z-indexed above the content BUT the content is still displaying higher and thus the dropdown appears below.

You need to give .header a

You need to give .header a z-index lower than any of the containing elements that appear after it.

regarding the table... i have since removed it and cleaned things up.

however, i still need some serious help with ie6. ugh.
