Can anyone help me out here?
I have a website with a few embedded mp3 audio players. If you view the site on IE, you see that it's working correctly, and you can listen to the audios. On firefox, though, the audio players do not play.
I know firefox has a problem with mp3 files, so I converted the audios to .ogg files, but it doesnt help.
The funny thing is that I have a different website with audio players, and firefox displays them perfectly (.ogg files). And although for this site, I copied the code exactly from the other site, firefox doesnt allow you to listen to the audio files.
Here's my code:

<dl class="mpThree">
                <img src="images/rock_clock.png" class="playerImg" alt="playerimg" />
                <dt>
                <audio controls="controls">
                <source src="rockaroundclock.mp3" />
                <source src="rockaroundclock.ogg" />
                <embed src="rockaroundclock"width="140"  height="40"autostart="false" loop="FALSE"></embed>
                </audio></dt>
                <dd>Rock Around the Clock<br />Bill Haley </dd>
                </dl>
I used the same code for a different website, where firefox has no issues!
I am posting the links to both sites here:
site with problem in firefox:
www.talkmusic.co
Site without problem:
www.beatlesongprofiles.com
Both sites use the same code for the audio players, and only the first site has a problem in firefox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Check your server settings

Either the files don't exist at the location you've specified in the source attributes or the server's not configured to server .ogg files correctly, because when I visit http://www.talkmusic.co/rockaroundclock.ogg for example in my browser I get:

Quote:

HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.

MIME?

That's the problem with using these off brand servers (IIS). ;p Apache+Linux are naturally configured to recognize registered file extensions and serve with appropriate MIMEtype. /sarc

cheers,

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

If that's the case, Tyssen,

If that's the case, Tyssen, why would it be showing up correctly in IE and chrome, and not firefox? (And when I test it on my own pc, using forefox, it also looks fine. It's only when I check online using firefox, that it doesnt work properly.)
I am posting my code, in case that helps:

<dl class="mpThree">
                <img src="images/rock_clock.png" class="playerImg" alt="playerimg" />
                <dt>
                <audio controls="controls">
                <source src="rockaroundclock.mp3" />
                <source src="rockaroundclock.ogg" />
                <embed src="rockaroundclock.mp3"width="140"  height="40"autostart="false" loop="FALSE"></embed>
                </audio></dt>
                <dd>Rock Around the Clock<br />Bill Haley </dd>
                </dl>

Thanks. Hope you can help.

Um...

I already did that with my first reply. Check your server settings and make sure that it's configured to serve those mime types correctly.
