All that jumping up and down on the surface of Saturn appears to have caused havoc with posting links oh and by the way Saturn is a gas giant so technically it's not really possible to jump on it's surface

If you are going to reference a function it might help to actually have that function available in the scope of the document?

I would stop with the javascript approach you are taking and follow the generally accepted one based around the Suckerfish one which fires the drop down using pure CSS with a simple small snippet of js for retarded browsers.
