The claim on the site is that it works on "Opera 10.54 and higher". I can't get it to work on Opera 11.01 at all. No font change in any way.

I've tried it with and without selectors in the kit, with and without defining the font-family in my CSS and nada. Works fine in IE 9, FF 3.6.13, Chrome and Safari.

I've only got a trial account set to localhost so I won't be able to show you the site. Just wondering if anyone has been using typekit with cross browser success.

Laughing out loud Tongue Laughing out loud

I don't think I want to use a javascript solution for font embedding anyway. That kind of stinks. Fontdeck.com works and uses a @font-face rule to which you can <link>.

Long story short - this is

Long story short - this is another area where browsers are wonderfully inconsistent to the point that takes me close to that edge.

Opera doesn't work with my heading tag, does with 'p' paragraph text, Firefox has issues with how the font-family name is written 'CantarellBold' == ok Cantarell-Bold == ok in Opera ! in FF 'Cantarell Bold' ok in Opera ! in FF these are all various written syntax in font face file??

I have had issues with Opera lately where I suspect it's holding cache to a stoopid degree and causing issues with many sites I have to log into.

I suspect my findings are not 100% accurate though.

frigging Opera is caching

frigging Opera is caching with a vengeance, closed Opera reopened font-face kicks into life for heading and paragraph.

Have you tried Google's link to font offering?

No. I was steered toward typekit because they offer a few Adobe fonts that I wanted to use. I just looked at the fontdeck because it actually works. Tongue

I mean, yes, not no. Tongue I tried it before but not today. Laughing out loud

Neato. The Google version

Neato. The Google version serves the correct @font-face rule to each browser. Unfortunately, their fonts really stink.

I gave Google a test drive

I gave Google a test drive very quickly a while back and was quite impressed ( but yes font selection has to be good or it's pointless), just a shame that my prejudice to all things Google prevents me using them Smile

I do love a good google

I do love a good google bashing Smile

All this is why I still feel reluctant to accept and embrace typography trickery - verdana will have to do for now Sad

I remember having this

I remember having this conversation before. Tongue Seems nothing has changed.

Font squirrel's font generator works but most of the fonts prohibit uploading to a publicly accessible web server. Freebie fonts aren't always high quality (bad kerning, jagged edges, oddball sizing) but if you look around you'll find a few that work well.

A few are ok but is that

A few are ok but is that enough? Font creation - from what I've read on the subject - is a really skilled and difficult thing, free fonts mainly can't get close to foundry fonts.

Hmmm. I uploaded an example

Hmmm. I uploaded an example to show to typekit support and it works when uploaded. No font on localhost though. Puzzled
