well my question says it all , almost a year into web dev , today i realised the importance of em's reading this article and how they really work .

So well i was just wondering how do pros go about using the em ??

or is it now just better to go the rem way ??

REM and EM have different

REM and EM have different functions. Use the one most appropriate in a given case.

BTW, that idea of setting the base font size to .625em or 62.5% is lazy and counterproductive. Simply set the base font size to the visitor's default, i.e. {font-size: 100%;}. Why? Because that's what your visitor expects, especially if he has reset the default value. Don't screw over your visitor.
