I'm trying to put a different cursor on my Big Cartel site but have never done anything with CSS. I've been copying the CSS coding from various cursor websites and pasting it into the CSS on my Big Cartel site but none of them are working. Here are some examples of the codes that I'm putting in:

<div align="center" style="z-index:9;visibility:visible;"><a href="[<a href="https://www.totallyfreecursors.com/" rel="nofollow">https://www.totallyfreecursors.com/</a>](<a href="https://www.totallyfreecursors.com/" rel="nofollow">https://www.totallyfreecursors.com/</a>)" target="\_blank" class="tfc"><img src="[<a href="https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/public/CursorsLogo88-31.gif" rel="nofollow">https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/public/CursorsLogo88-31.gif</a>](<a href="https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/public/CursorsLogo88-31.gif" rel="nofollow">https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/public/CursorsLogo88-31.gif</a>)" border="0" width="88" height="31" alt="Free Milhouse Cursors at [<a href="http://www.totallyfreecursors.com" rel="nofollow">www.totallyfreecursors.com</a>](<a href="https://www.totallyfreecursors.com" rel="nofollow">https://www.totallyfreecursors.com</a>)" /></a></div><style>HTML,BODY{cursor: url("[<a href="https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/cursor\_files/milhouse.cur" rel="nofollow">https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/cursor\_files/milhouse.cur</a>](<a href="https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/cursor_files/milhouse.cur" rel="nofollow">https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/cursor_files/milhouse.cur</a>)"), url("[<a href="https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/thumbnails/milhouse.gif" rel="nofollow">https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/thumbnails/milhouse.gif</a>](<a href="https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/thumbnails/milhouse.gif" rel="nofollow">https://downloads.totallyfreecursors.com/thumbnails/milhouse.gif</a>)"), auto;}</style>

<style type="text/css">\* {cursor: url([<a href="http://cur.cursors-4u.net/toons/too-3/too244.cur" rel="nofollow">http://cur.cursors-4u.net/toons/too-3/too244.cur</a>](<a href="http://cur.cursors-4u.net/toons/too-3/too244.cur" rel="nofollow">http://cur.cursors-4u.net/toons/too-3/too244.cur</a>)), auto !important;}</style><a href="[<a href="http://www.cursors-4u.com/cursor/2006/02/28/too244.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.cursors-4u.com/cursor/2006/02/28/too244.html</a>](<a href="http://www.cursors-4u.com/cursor/2006/02/28/too244.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.cursors-4u.com/cursor/2006/02/28/too244.html</a>)" target="\_blank" title="Bart Simpson Snowborder"><img src="[<a href="http://cur.cursors-4u.net/cursor.png" rel="nofollow">http://cur.cursors-4u.net/cursor.png</a>](<a href="http://cur.cursors-4u.net/cursor.png" rel="nofollow">http://cur.cursors-4u.net/cursor.png</a>)" border="0" alt="Bart Simpson Snowborder" style="position:absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px;" /></a>

/* Start <a href="http://www.cursors-4u.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.cursors-4u.com</a> */ * {cursor: url(<a href="http://cur.cursors-4u.net/toons/too-3/too244.cur" rel="nofollow">http://cur.cursors-4u.net/toons/too-3/too244.cur</a>), auto !important;} /* End <a href="http://www.cursors-4u.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.cursors-4u.com</a> */

I've been pasting them at the bottom of my CSS

Any help is appreciated!

dated code

The code you posted is full of deprecated practices (by 20+ years). Further, it is a poor practice to run all the code together. Apparently, the Big Cartel site is aimed at artists. I see, in my mind a painting with a splash of background color. Then a brown tree trunk with green leaves painted on top followed by a boy on a bike on top of that. And his little sister chasing him painted directly on top of the boy, his bike, the green leaves, the brown trunk and the background. Then the artist wonders why it doesn't look like his vision. That's how I react to unformatted code.

I might be able to dig out and separate everything, but I'd rather you did it. A second choice is to post the link to your actual site. That would let me see what the code is or should be doing.

Seeing your site might let me make some general suggestions towards making your site more manageable, i.e. to maintain, update and debug.

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.
