...Just went through this same issue in customizing a Tumblr blog, unfortunately the same fix did not apply here...

Seems like it must be something fairly simple, just can't see the solution.
I just need the navbar to sit flush with the top of the page as seen here:

Unfortunately applying basically the same code here it's looking like this:

You have content inside the

You have content inside the "head" of your HTML.
You can't have content in there.
Once you remove it, it works.

Maybe fifty percent of the problems posted here could have been solved simply by running the html and css through the validators and fixing the errors.
