Sort of new to this CSS stuff. I've checked my images locations, etc. - oddly, the background images show up in Dreamweaver's "Design Mode" but not in "Live Mode" or in a browser preview. Same thing when I uploaded my site. I've been pulling my hair out trying to solve this.

Here's my code:

Online Portfolio of Kim Rose

And the CSS:

#container {
width:850px;
text-align:left;
margin-right:auto;
margin-left:auto;
position:relative;
}

#logotopheader {
background:url(/Images/LogoTop.gif);
width: 850px;
height: 61px;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;

}
#navcontents {
width: 850px;
height: 52px;
border-width:0px;
border-style:0;
background-image:url(/Images/LogoBottom.gif);
background-repeat:no-repeat;
padding:0px;
}

#navcontents ul {
padding:0px;
margin:0 0 0 605px;
list-style:url(none) none;
display:inline-block;
}

#navcontents li {
margin:0px;
float:left;
}

#home a {
display:block;
height: 52px;
width: 77px;
padding: 0px;
background-image:url(/Images/HomeButton.gif);
}
#about a {
background-image:url(/Images/AboutButton.gif);
display:block;
height: 52px;
width: 168px;
padding: 0px;
}

#home a:hover {
background-image:url(/Images/HomeButton.gif); 0px -52px;
display: block;
}
#about a:hover {
background-image:url(/Images/AboutButton.gif); 0px -52px;
display: block;
}

#sublogo {
background-image: url(/Images/sublogo.gif);
width: 850px;
height: 55px;
marginn: 0px;
}

#middle {
width:850px;
height:448px;
padding:0px;
margin:0px;
}

I truly appreciate all the help. I'm sure I'm doing something ridiculously silly. If it helps, you can go to the actual URL: http://www.krosedesign.com and check it out from there. Thanks again!

Can we have a link to the online page? It will help us to diagnose the problem.

cheers,

gary

//edit: :oops: missed seeing it by that much.

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Validaaaaaaaaaate! If there

Validaaaaaaaaaate!

If there is a problem first step in trouble shooting is to check with ones eyes for simple but critical syntax errors!

You have css syntax errors

You have css syntax errors that might be causing problems; not that I can spot one that is definitely the perpetrator. Look at this,

a:visited {
	font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	color: #660099;
note the lack of a closing brace. There is a problem with the #about a:hover and the preceding :block; rule. Try retyping or just leave the display property off. It's not needed since a is block.

You should also fix the errors in the html markup, just to make everything kosher.

cheers,

gary
