I am brand new to CSS and HTML. I even started building my own site from scratch. Before doing this I started a previous site, a gaming community and forum….because well, I am also very much into games. Problem is I used WordPress as the database and Simple Press for the forum software. Truthfully I have been grasping the concepts of HTML and CSS with few problems. I want to make some minor changes to the CSS such as change user groups to a different color according to the group. Ex, Moderators would be green, bloggers, orange, admins red, and so on. My issue is I have no idea how to read PHP and all of their templates are in PHP. Could someone please help me?? I can show you any template code you need in order to figure out where to make the changes.

You're talking about WP roles

You're talking about WP roles and capabilities by the sound of things, WP does make provision for classing various user roles so you can style via CSS, but you will need to start reading through the WP codex for guides on themeing, there's a lot of help available on the WP codex from beginner to advanced.

Yes I am aware of the WP

Yes I am aware of the WP codex but in order to read that or get help from WP you need to be a member and pay them a monthly fee. I do not have the money to get the help I am seeking so I am here on these forums hoping that someone knows enough of PHP to help me.

Erm you most certainly don't! WP is an open source platform you do not need to pay them anything whatsoever, access to the WP codex likewise is open and free. Access to the forums - like nearly all forums - requires a user login, this too is free.

The requirement you have is not the simplest one even though it may sound it. one would need to create a wp function of some description however I note that you are probably actually talking about simple press in respect of 'user groups' which do not exist in WP as standard.

In terms of code I think it somewhat a stretch to hope that someone here will run something up from scratch as that starts to approach a job and one requiring that someone spends a bit of time running up the solution.

I don't know Simple Press but would advise that you perhaps think about switching to bbPress standalone plugin for your forum requirements as it's far more tightly woven into WP and the lead developer jjj is a WP employee so the plugin has a sort of seal of approval.

No, it used to be free. I

No, it used to be free. I have an account there. All the threads I started before I can no longer access. I can see main forums but not get into the threads or post. I went to the codex and it says members only which means I have to pay.

here I will show you the link,
http://codex.simple-press.com/members-only/?wlfrom=%2Fcodex%2Fthemes%2Ftheme-basics%2Ftheme-structure%2F

it clearly says members only. I am a member but can no longer post unless I pay a fee.

I have been talking about WP

I have been talking about WP not simple press in respect of 'codex' 'the codex' belongs to wp.org.

So I further suggest you test out bbPress if simple Press is charging for support.
