Hello,

I am in a web design course and we are to design a page using a 12 column 960 grid. I am using this which was provided by the book and should create 3 columns that are VERTICAL, however, they are appearing for me HORIZONTAL. In the "Results" image in my book under the code, the columns appear vertical so I don't know what I'm doing wrong if I'm using the code exactly from the book..

* {
font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;
color: #665544;
text-align: center;}

#nav, #feature, .article, #footer {
background-color: #efefef;
margin-top: 20px;
padding: 10px 0px 5px 0px;}

#feature, .article {
height: 100px;}

li {
display: inline;
padding: 5px;}

Should this css for the 12 column grid create 3 VERTICAL columns? If it is accurate then there is some other code on my website involved that is countering this.

Where's the html?

CSS without the html it applies to is gibberish.

cheers,

gary

ps: If your instructor is teaching grids, he's not competent to be teaching web development. ~g

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.
