WordPress Custom Menu Styling - CSS

I'm working with the "Admired Child" theme (based off Admired obviously). I'm trying to use the editor and my web developer plugin on Chrome to re-style my custom menu on the side.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but nothing is working.
Tried using .menu li, .menu ul, etc. to change it, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Its been a long week and I'm tired, so I could be missing the obvious.

Horizontal Scrolling/Fixed Width Issue on iPhone

We have been working on a website, www.ched53.co.uk and been trying to solve a browser compatibility issue on the Twenty Eleven theme. On the iPhone and Windows Phone the page appears to be centred and is scrolling behind the right side of the background of what looks like a sidebar? (However there is no sidebar present)

Perhaps this is a fixed with issue requiring @media css... but we're baffled and reaching out for someone's advice who may have dealt with this type of error before.
