Fixed width menu plus content.

Hello, How can i create a fixed-width menu to the left with content to the right that fills up the rest of the page. ie, no auto-width, it needs to fill up all the way to the right edge.

So if you create a horizontal line in the content it will draw all the way to the right (except for some padding of course)

Nav List Problems

Hi,

This is a very newbie question. I'm creating a top nav menu in html/css and i've got it working fine in firefox but when I view it in IE8 it's vertical list of blocks 100% width. I don't want to have to hardcode widths for items. Any help would be great. CSS/HTML below, thanks.

<div id="mainNav">
<h2 class="access">Primary navigation starts here:</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="../a.php" class="home">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="../b.php" class="about">About</a></li>
<li><a href="../c/" class="shop selected">Shop</a></li>
<li><a href="../d.php" class="register">Register</a></li>

UL Positioning Keeps Breaking

I have been battling with a positioning problem that I can't seem to solve on my own.

	background-image:url('../img/left_list1_bg_sel.gif');
