Menu image squished

Hi, I had replaced a rollover navbar image a while back and I double-checked my styles and the actual image sizes and all seems correct... But the image appears squished more than the images around it in the navbar, especially in firefox. Can anyone explain why this is happening/happens?

Here is the site, see the bottom right word, Websites (ironically):

Thanks for your help!

List creation

Hello, I am sorry for posting such a noobish question, but I hope that I'll get an answer if I'll post it how I should.

My Page

I am trying to create a site, while learning about all the stuff I need to know while creating it. I am using joomla as CMS and I've got 2 different .css files. Here they are...

menu.css :

 /*set the z-index for the columns that gets dropped down over*/
/*set the position and z-index for the menu moduletable */

Why won't my CSS link?

I've tried all sorts of different ways to link my menu css to my index.html but I can't get it to work. Where do I put the import and is there a certain why I need to upload the .css file to my server? I'm a complete beginner so it's probably something really simple. Here's my code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
<html xmlns="" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<title>The Hostages</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

Overlay menu over images

Hi again,

I put an image underneath my menu. The problem is that if the menu grows it will push the image down. How can I get the menu to overlay over the image so that its not pushed down?

This shows the problem:

my html:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "">
<html xmlns="">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

menu layout and slight footer issue

Hi all,

The last couple of day's has been my first real experience in CSS and using the

I've created a page, the good news is that its layed out correctly, the bad news is the menu items have a gap in them.

I followed this tutorial to keep the footer at the bottom of the page:

The type of menu I'm trying to create is this one:

This is what the page currently looks like (there should be no gap between "Portfolio" and "Item 3.1"):
