CSS Background problem (seemingly different to other bg problems posted here)

Hi everyone

I've 'lurked' about here for a while, trying to solve a CSS problem I have. I wouldn't usually make a forum post on a problem unless I've tried EVERY other avenue (which I have!)..

Basically, I'm working on a site:

The problem seems to be twofold:

1) The footer 'cityscape' image (the building silhouettes) sometimes don't appear in the footer unless you refresh the page. This isn't the MAJOR issue though

Setting the y-position of the background image

I am currently creating a website and am using a background on the html tag and one on the body tag too. The html tag background repeats along x and the body background repeats along y. I would like the body background to start about 150px down so that the html background can be seen. When I try to set the y-position it doesn't seem to work...please help!

here is the code for the styling...

background: url(images/background.jpg) repeat-x;
body {
background: url(images/backgroundsides.png) repeat-y center 150px;
margin: 0px auto;

How to change background of template in CSS

I am working on our companys website, I was wondering how to change the template background. I am not sure what it would be called, it is the blue shading down to the white. I would like to take it out, if I cant do that is there a way I can make the page a full screen?? By the way also I am working in website tonight with GoDaddy.

I probably didnt explain this very well here is the link to our website

body {
    margin: auto;

Left column background image problem

I am transferring a clients website to Joomla. I did not design it, but am stuck dealing with the designers decisions.

Here's the problem. There is supposed to be an image that runs down the left side of the screen. I am using position:absolute; Thought that would work. Has before.
However, when we make the screen smaller, the left side image shrinks, the content stays in the correct place, and event the left column background colour disappears.

Very strange.

Any advice is welcome.

Below is the code.

body {
background-image: url(../images/bg.jpg);
margin:0 0 0 0;
