Haven't had time to play with website stuff for a while. But... now I'm puttering on my personal site and want to do one of those imitation IE Info bar things suggesting people get Firefox or sending them off to Browse Happy.

It was in the Too Cool for Internet Explorer thread and linked to
www.4webmakers.com/blog.

I can't find their code now, but I think they were using some java script enclosed in IE conditional tags to make it work. A google search turns up a few CSS only solutions.

like these

http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/7135

I understand that the real IE info bar is animated. Is there a way to animate one of these? (Preferably in php or if necessary javascript?) Should I bother with animation?

Would someone be willing to help a Mac users test these? :?:

I know almost nothing about coding in php or javascript.

anyone know how to animate a fake IE info bar?

AFAIK, it's just a bar that slides down into view.

The ironic thing is, on hover the background colour changes. And what's the property that IE doesn't support on divs? That's right . . . . :hover ](*,)

ROFLOL @ your smiley.

Hmm. If it just slides into view then it'll be OK to make a static "IE only" banner ...

Found a javascript that appears to need a mouse to hover on a link to work.

That's doesn't sound like the sliding effect of the Infobar, and not being able to test it out... the static banner sounds better and better. Laughing out loud

Thanks for the reply, Pineapple!
