Hey,

I have an idea and you can take it or leave it Tongue

I just throught that perhaps you could have a checkbox in the "edit post" page that lets the user make the page show up as if it had a new post in it.

I think this could avoid "bump" messages and if ever someone sees that he lacked information and edits his post to add more, people who had read his post earlier will know there was a change/new post and will check it again to see the changes.

I figure the major "con" for this system is people could continuously mark their thread as if there was a new message in it but people who would abuse the system this way could do the same by posting continuous messages Tongue You could even have a small caption in the post to show "This message has been marked as new" so you know why the thread has been bumped.

Anywho... enjoy! =D

Mark as new message

The problem becomes, which post was edited. If you do make a significant edit to a post a considerable time after first making it, then it is best to add a bump post explaining the correction.

Mark as new message

Only the last message in the thread can be bumped of course and there could be a marker to let people know the message was bumped. If the user doesn't add more to the message and just bumps it then chances are people are going to ignore it again...

You'd have the same effect as a bump post minus the double post...
