Re: site check please

Needs validation.

Are you actually employing a java applet? (Checks calendar).

I like the look though, it's relaxing. Smile

Looks fine.

However, I prefer not to have a scrolling div (such as <div id="principalbody">) in the middle of your page. Because I'm looking at it in IE6/win and I got three scroll bars: browser verticle scroll, browser horizontal scroll, and the scrolling div.

If you remove the scrolling on the div and make your page with 760px width, then the user got only one verticle scroll -- a much cleaner design. One scroll is all that a user should ever need.

I found an error that I had with my width which caused a horizontal scrollbar to exist.. If there is a vertical scrollbar in the browser then it's a lovely microsoft issue.. As it doesn't appear this way in FF, or safari.. So I fixed the horizontal issue for sure.

I prefer the scrollable div because it allows the site to be uniform in height as there is a 2nd nav bar below the content which is easier to access without having to scroll up and down depending on what page you are on.

really? even though it's so pretty to look at???

I put a background image behind the java applet, so if people have java disabled they will see a picture of heather.

Bah, java. It may be nice to look at if you can stand the agonizing applet load time and actually get to it. You could do the same thing with flash and it would load much quicker and be less choppy. (I can't believe I gave respect to flash. )

I'm going to disable java in all my browsers. Thanks for the idea. I don't know why I didn't before.

I have to agree with this. I'd rather use scripts than Flash if it's only effects that I'm after.
