Morning - I'm hoping someone can help.
Pleae could someone explain to me why some sites seem to not specify font size in their style sheets and then attach <font size="1"> (or whatever low number) to every line instead?
Is there some particlular benefits to this way and doesn't it go against the whole idea of CSS and W3C compliance?
thanks
why is font size not used in some CSS but on the page
could be a wysiwyg editor and that is what they get, or they haven't found the time to change, or the client won't pay for a complete rewrite and the developer will not do it for free, or...........................
Will all be still supported for many years yet.

Let's not overlook the fact that there are still many web-designers/developers out there who simply don't know any better.
It's an unfortunate truth that there are plenty of practicing 'professionals' who have never really picked up on the whole 'web standards' debate.
While HTML 4 tutorials still massively outnumber XHTML 1.0 tutorials in books and online, it's a sorry state that is likely to continue for a number of years.

thanks for the thoughts and I agree with what your saying.
The main website in question though happens to be one that is extremely influential and is often used as the benchmark for many sites including ours so this was why I was wondering if i'd missed a trick here.
