I think my site is ready for some critiques. It is built using valid XHTML 1.1 and CSS and is powered by Textpattern.

Feel free to rip apart everything from the design and code to the content. I need every shred of advice you can give.

Thanks in advance. Laughing out loud

How about including a header telling the viewer what the site is about, or who you are, or at least giving the site some kind of identity and visual hook. As it is it is visually boring, without context or reference and therefore meaningless to the casual visitor. Sorry!

True

I understand, but first let me explain:

I initially did not want to include a title or logo because I did not want to restrict it to a particular idea, but I'm afraid that I no longer have a choice. I will try to come up with something soon.

Thanks for the advice

Hi

In FF the Philosophy logo is left-aligned - whereas in IE it's centred - not sure which is correct but I'll guess that you want it centred.

I'd do away with the underline in the logo - it'd be prettier without IMO.

Also - the right-hand border on the main content area stops with the content which is shorter than the Erratic Wisdom column - I think it looks a bit odd as the middle column also has a right-hand border. Maybe try to add a left-hand border to it to make it the same length.

(that paragraph made sense in my head...)

Finally I'd say the font-size of the far right column was too small.

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

I was working on it live, so you might have caught a little bit of the messiness inadvertantly.

As for the font size, I'll work on that. I've been really busy lately and don't have a reliable internet connection, so I might not be able to fix everything right away, but thanks for the advice, and it'll all be put to use ASAP.

I kind of like the idea of a very minimalist and clean page since I believe the content in itself gives or must be the one to give the imagery that the design requires.

Hehehe, I'm not usually this "academic" when appreciating visuals but I think the while/blankness suits the philosophy theme well. Laughing out loud

Thanks, that was the idea I was going for and I'm glad that you liked it!
