Whats the problem with my site!?

http://rstips.obisam.com/zyiiilo/wow.html

I have coded all this by myself, with NP (NotePad) and used Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for the design (not that it has a lot of design)

My problems are those in Opera, my site doesnt quite work, because I am a beginner with CSS...I am not quite the wiz at html if you thought so ( which I seriously doubt). The biggest problem with my site is how to align stuff and how to get it to work.

In Opera you can see that the text box does not go all the way to the end of the main box. How do I align it correctly?

Anyways, if you guys find anymore bugs, It would be greaaat!

Here is the .css for those of you who hasnt found it:

Problems with coding, help!

It's mostly well coded, but at the top you have this

<head>
</SCRIPT>

you don't need the closing script tag. You also need an html tag up top with a doctype declaration.

http://www.csscreator.com/css-forum/ftopic2471.html

You will need a valid page before most people here will do some debugging with it. Good Luck!

Calmness folks,

Westboarder: from the post times it should have been apparent that this was a cross post (posted at roughly the same time)

Diva: It always pays to check ones post and if needed an edit note can be added to acknowledge the cross post.
if pointing out Doctype it helps if we can point the op to relevant help such as the 'How To' section.

zyiiilo1: When posting a question could you ensure that you have used as meaningful a title as you can come up with given the nature of the problem.
"Dudes, like WTF!?" is not the proper way of titling a thread and the use of "WTF" not appropriate.
Titles like this will put many off looking at the thread as it does not give any clue to the actual problem.

Declaration

I have declared my site, but I am not sure if I did it right...Hope so anyways..

Could anyone help me fix my site? Maybe even give me some hints on what I should do and what I should not do.

Thanks for all the replies, even though people were confused...

I have changed my post name as requested from Hugo, thanks for help \:D/

Thankyou for changing the title.

I do not see a Doctype ? you say you have declared it what do mean by that or have you just not updated the live link?

I would remove the float:left and the width from the #text div but the picture is going to cause you problems I would start reading all you can find on the behavior of floats and layout flow try http://positioniseverything.net for good tutorials on using floats and the problems encountered, as a starting point and the links in the sidebar really ought to be in a list structure rather than using the line break tag to get a block element layout.

well

Hugo:
Thanks for replying, I will try and do something about it, I could swear I had put DOCTYPE on my html...I'll try again, maybe you did not press Refresh button or something.

Diva:

Well, It did not quite work in Opera nor IE.

Not sure why though, but it looks like it is *beep*ed in IE and in Opera, probably because we have different screen res. or something...

Thanks for trying anyways

zyiiilo1, sorry possibly my error on the Doctype, really the best advice is to have a good read of some float layout tutorials to help you along with this, but as I said earlier you may like to try removing the float left and width on the #text div, which will allow it to take up it's natural position alongside the floated sidebar, it may actually make sense to turn #container2 into a holder for the #text div and the picture which you could then float left and have the text wrap around it, the container2 would probably need left margining away from the sidebar.

Just seen your last post, DO NOT REMOVE THE DOCTYPE it is necessary it is not messing up your site the existing code is doing that follow some of my advice and have a read of a few guides and things will start to fall into place.

Problems with coding, help!

You've coded pretty neatly and closed your empty tags all bar one, the stylesheet link will need; css" /> all tags appear to be lower case so you should be able to use the xhtml 1.0 strict flavour.

This at the top of the page:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
 "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

The xml namespace:

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

and you should include a meta character declaration:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />

OR

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

Probably best to use the more advanced utf-8.

You can cut 'n' paste these into your page

Bear in mind that things may well change in IE as it will now be switched into 'Standards mode' but this is a good thing and shouldn't take too much effort to bring things together if you can paste these into the page we'll take another look.

It's a brave new world once you get the hang of it, standards are vital and the doctype essential.

I ought to make a minor correction to the html namespace declaration which should read:

<html xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en">
