BBC: Websites alienate Firefox users
"Surprisingly, after all these years, users of standard-compliant browsers are still faced with sites that do not support their browser or with a link suggesting they download Internet Explorer," said Deri Jones, chief executive of SciVisum.
For a second there, I thought that said scum
An Odeon spokesperson said: "Firefox users can enter the site and get all the information about cinema listings and screening times, just without the bells and whistles of the fancier site.
"Instead of using the Enter button, they should use the text-only version."

Yay?
Yay because it's drawing attention to the problem on one the second most used website in the UK (after Google) - such publicity has got to be good for the FF, Opera etc cause.

Oh, I see now. Hopefully (fingers crossed) that will happen. I'd say a big yay if that government site got their @sses sued and were forced to be accessible (and hence standards compliant). It is law isn't it?

Are you referring to the BBC ? I don't think they would be too happy being referred to in that way

Shame they have just failed in the standards implementation, looks like they're trying but have fallen short of the mark, and for a company that was praised originally for it's site and held up as an example of how to, and they have all the resources they could care for in the IT business , there's no excuse for them ignoring Accessibility requirements , as you say disability legislation is in force now in the UK. Hm, time for a note to berate them on their efforts I think.

Oh I see
Actually it's funny reading all these sites that have gone to extraordinary lengths and difficulty to code for IE and managing to exclude FF which has simple needs. The people I would like to get a hold of are the ones that profess to be web design agencies and turn out all this gob*beep*e code for vast sums of money makes me mad it does.
As for Jobcentres they are a bloody disgrace and should all be closed down, hate them, waste of taxpayers money.
Hang on how can a gov agency not be following the DDA guidelines they have to ??
