Recently I have been getting a number of requests via this forum's Personal Message feature. While I am happy to help out, PMing myself or any of the other "gurus" has a number of potentially bad effects;
- It might get missed if the PMs don't get checked for a while
- It may be something that someone else could answer easily and more promptly
- If the question is an interesting one, it deprives other forum participants of the chance to see, analyze and follow the solution to the problem
- It puts the recipient under pressure to provide an answer which really isn't fair - we are all volunteers and provide help when and where we can.

Trying to get help through PMs instead of the Forum
However, feel free to PM me all you like Trust me, I visit this forum daily (if not hourly), and get a nice little popup telling me when I have new messages.
If it;s something important or something I can;t solve, I'll post it on the forums for the rest of you gurus.

Something that I used to get quite a lot.
All joking aside, TPH you should know that to use PMs in this way is a mis-use of them, it is never considered proper to PM a member for help unless invited to or there is some specific reason for needing to communicate directly with someone, it is not for requesting help that's the purpose of the public posts, I'm not sure you should be encouraging people to this use of the PM facility even in jest.
Hugo.
