Hi , I would like to make my own server so i can play with some friends. Here is what i do : I start css , I create an server , when the server has loaded, i open the console and then i type" sv_lan 0"
Now my friend can see my ip adress but if they search my ip in css , they can't find him .
Can somebody say me what I'm doing wrong ???

Not reading the right books.

Install Apache, PHP, and MySQL. They're all free.
Sign up with a dynamic DNS service like DynDNS.
Do a whole potload of R'ing the FM. A whole potload. It takes a lot of work (initially) run your own server.
Better yet, find a hosting service that offers free or very low cost hosting. They're out there, and it's not Tripod. Your own ISP probably offers hosting, albeit without PHP, etc..
cheers,

You'd think he would have seen this:
The CSS forum is a Cascading Style Sheet learning resource for web developers and designers. Web developers give and receive tips and advice on CSS and website creation.
Anyways, if he ever comes back
You should have a look into the Source Dedicated Server stuff you can download through Steam, might point you in the right direction.
However, when we used to play 1.6 at a cyber cafe, there was no sv_lan nonsense. All my mate did was set up a server, then we went to 'Find Server' option, and checked under lan - there it was. Same with Unreal Tourney too.
(Yes, I know it, I'm 1337 )

He's got problems beyond all that.
He said: "Here is what i do : I start css..." and "if they search my ip in css , they can't find him." So he's not even in the ballpark on how all this works together.

Guys, you are aware he's talking about Counter Strike, right? I was a bit confused by Howard's response.

Why on earth should we be aware though, your saying that he's come on to a forum dealing with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and is talking about another thing that has the same acronym, hmm, that's clever .
I take it that he didn't realise then what sort of forum he was on
Wouldn't have occurred to me he was referring to Counter Strike, oh well that demonstrates once again that I'm not Leet I guess.
I suppose our young gaming friend is not about to return so we can draw a line under this one, it's not really the place for 10 year old gamers.

Well, I wasn't sure whether you guys got it or not
