Okay - embarrassing question.
Why is the 'View Style Infomation' not available to me under the CSS menu in the web developer's toobar? I can't figure this one out. I have it at home on my Mac, but not here at work on a Win 2000 PC
FF 1.0.4
WDE 0.9.3

It's gone on mine too.

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

I know this won't help much, but I have it on mine - WinXP FF1.0.4.

I did once accidentally click the disable button at the right of the Webdev toolbar, coincidentally at the same time as I upgraded. It took me ages to figure out what had gone wrong.

LOL! I thought I was the only one to do this! I spent ages trying to figure it out and then my fiancee comes in and informs me that I've disabled it! what a loon!

larmyiaI'm with you, except for Moz/Gnu/Linux, where it's grayed out. FF 1.0.4/Win, Moz1.7.8/Win (no css edit), FF1.0.3-2Debian/Gnu/Linux Gecko1.7.7 20050421, and Moz1.7.7-2Debian/Gnu/Linux Gecko 1.7.7 20050420(no css edit, no view style info).

The others must be experiencing operator error Laughing out loud

cheers,

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Everything else on the WD toolbar is working except for the DOM inspector in the miscellaneous section and the View Styles in the CSS section which are greyed out.

Weird..

Do you have the DOM Inspector installed ?
'View style information' requires it in order to function, just a thought.

Hugo, is that an extension? I don't remember installing it on my Mac - could it have come with a FF version? or with WDE?

It is part of a custom install. See this knowledgebase article for more details.

I had a weird thing happen to me at one point where I lost one of the buttons from the WD toolbar. I found it again when I right clicked on the toolbar, selected customize, and the button was sitting there as one of the optional toolbar buttons. I dragged it back and things have been OK since.

So...

I went to Customise and clicked on the Restore default set and suddenly it's all back how it was.

Oh well.

As DC says the DOM Inspector is part of the custom install of firefox and needs checking when you run the custom install.

I too found that, when I upgraded the toolbar my 'Tools' button had disappeared taking my beloved validation options with it and yes I found it lurking in the FF 'Customize toolbar' option which seemed odd

But the web dev tools is slightly buggy and there does seem to be a question surrounding resources and memory leakage at the moment
and FF does run seem to run high on memory as it is.

Is this perhaps a consequence of the design whereby one adds functionality through third party extensions ? I'm currently running at 17 extensions all needed as such.

On a sidenote anyone have a problem with FF always wanting access to update.mozilla.org even though it's unchecked in the options, it's annoying when off line.
