I've never gotten advice that I didn't need from you folks. Please throw me your thoughts on this one.

Hi Antibland

Very pretty site!

Don't quite know why but the background has disappeared in Opera 7.11.

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

on a general style thing - I think it's very well done. I really like you use of colours (different, but yet sympathetic with your material) and your header/logo. the only thing I didn't like was the colour of the footer. but that might just be me...

there are a couple of gaps that seem out of place. I'm not sure you can do anything about the one below the "Roots Tours" but the one below airfairs seems really out of place.

sorry I can't be of more help.

nice work

I agree with you on the spacing issue beneath "Roots Tours.". This shouldn't be a problem once I receive and tweak the actual site content. As far as the footer colour, I'm not sure if I agree with you.

Thanks for the input, larmyia (and others).

In Firefox, your links don't butt right up against the header so that you can see the background colour of the left-hand panel showing above the links (looks like just 1 pixel).
Other than that - looks good.

I never think it looks right in bulletted lists if the distance from the bullet to the text is greater than the vertical separation between list items.

In yours, for example, don't you get the impression of a column of bullets and then a separate column of text items to the right?

There's a problem for me in Safari and FF/Mac - the left div is floating against the nav. It needs to be cleared left to sit in the column correctly.

I'm guessing you want it to look like this:

wolfcry911,

Thank you so much for those screenshots. I cleared the #left div which has hopefully resolved the problem. If possible, you can let me know if this has been fixed now (alas, I am Mac-less)? Also, I know it's been mentioned on this site before, but I'm having trouble finding it; where can I locate a free Mac browser emulator website? I was using ICapture but it's been unusable for a while now. I think they're going through a hardware upgrade or something.

Winger,

After looking at the page for a while, I agree with you. The horizontal distance from the bullet and the list-item text was too great. I've shortened it to a more reasonable distance now. Thanks for the poignant remark.

antibland,

check out this site for Mac screenshots - you chose the browser (no FF, however).

I see Joseph has been using it lately Laughing out loud

PS - I gotta know - what exactly is that on the (lovely) woman's backside in your avatar?

Thanks for the Mac site. That was the one I had forgotten about. As far as the vegetation obscuring the posterior crack on my avatar, you should ask Lorraine--she made the thing in the first place. I think it's some sort of biblical olive leaf but I'm really not quite sure.

Have you got the IE guillotine bug? I noticed in FF that you had a light-cloured stripe at the top of the page, but this wasn't shown in IE6/Win until I moved the cursor up there.

The bullets look better.

As noted by Winger: The top bar is dark until the links are moused over, when the bar goes light greenish and links are visible. Mousing over the link bar under the zebra causes the top bar to revert. Screencap attd.

You have breakage of the navbar on text resizing++. Not awfully bad, but could use a look.

I'm not fond of the dotted borders on your sub-head boxes. It would look better at 1px, except that IE screws up 'dotted'. Too, that should be a <hn>, not a <p>.

Else, looks clean and attractive.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Winger/gary,

Thanks for your attention on this. One bad symptom of testing in FF so often is that my eye lets IE bugs like this slip past my "retinal sentries." I'm still not sure how I missed that one. Surrounding my #header div with position: relative has fixed the problem in IE6. Thanks for the heads up, people.
