Good idea, although not too sure about some of them:
Is the favicon.ico included and clear? Yes □ No □
Is a favicon really necessary?
And this one:
Have all the pages the correct DOCTYPE? Yes □ No □
should DEFINITELY be at the top of the list. Hehe
I've rejigged it a bit, I'm not sure whether it should be grouped like this?

Ah Thanks larmyia, that's fantastic
I know the favico isn't necessary but I was thinking that it should be on the list anyway, as a reminder in case it has been included.

'alt' isn't a tag, it's an attribute.

I assume you're talking about the web safe colours? Does anyone actually stick to those nowadays? Most people have screens that can handle 32bit colour, so what's the point?

Good point - I never use web-safe colours for text (or images for that matter).

What about some of these low resolution flat panel displays, I know they're 32 bit but at times non-web colours can look poor...just a thought!
Creating the definative Web Page Checklist
I stopped using 'web-safe' colours years ago, and if a 32 bit display shows a colour badly then it's going to show it badly whether it's a web-safe colour or not!

I wouldn't say TFT/Flat panels show colours badly, they're just not as 'clear' as CRTs. This rarely affects the "performance" of a website layout though (if that sentence makes sense?)
Anyway, as long as there is sufficient contrast between the colours I shouldn't think it matters what colours you actually use. If there is enough contrast, when the colours are "changed" to the closest equivalent for that colour depth they should still be useable. Theoretically. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Sorry ballinasloe,
I sort of highjacked your topic, so I have split it to http://www.csscreator.com/css-forum/viewtopic.php?t=10068
