Hi, i was searching for a table less forum and i found your site.
I try to search on phpBB official site but latest version has tables.

Where can i found the version you are running? It's downloadable or it was written only for this site?

Thank you.

Hi Horus,
Unfortunately it was only written for this site.
I would happily share if it was a simple matter but with the mods from phpbb and my own it would be difficult.

No problem.

Do you know if I can found any accessible phpBB template on the net? Otherwise I will have to make by myself but i think it's an hard job.

If I have to do my own template, can I take some ideas from your css?

Thanks for your quick reply.

P.S.: sorry for my bad english.

Bad Engloish isn't a problem. It's when you can speak fluent english but still talk crap that we get annoyed with you.

As for the forum; I'm guessing any phpbb template will use tables. You'd have to code your own template, using divs, then use a master CSS sheet to style it.

Tony should be able to help with the conversion (if you ask him nicely!)

Hi Horus,
Your welcome to use anything I have here.
I am also willing to send you the template files, but like I mentioned earlier they would need modifying.

Thanks a lot to you all.

I appreciate if you want to send me your template. Modify it's better than create. I know quite well (x)html and css so it will not be very hard.

is that why this site doesn't print very well then??? the limitations of the php forum templates?

was quite suprised the other day when I want to print out a thread and the whole thing chunked up horribly into tables and extra unreadable info....

You can also use the @media print syntax to get it to look correct when printing from a PC. Smile

As a side note, I know I'm a completely new user, however I was wondering if I could get a copy of these template files also - seriously, I've been looking for a pure CSS layout for phpBB for a while now and I've come up with diddly squat until I saw this site.

This really is a beautiful bit of work - I'd do it myself If I understood the phpBB templating system a little better, but it would make my life a million times easier if I was able to get a copy of these template files Laughing out loud

Anyway - If not, no worries - I know it's cheeky asking - I just think you've done a great job. Smile

PS - Sorry for digging up an *OLD* thread. Smile

Hi SEbasic,
I have just emailed you the template files.
It will require lots of work on your part to implement correctly and it may be easier for you to start from scratch.

Hope that helps

Thanks an awful lot tony

I'll use it just as a guide for the time being to give me a good idea of how to actually do this.

Thanks an awful lot for the files though..

I'll get a donation over to you this afternoon. Smile

Cheers

Oliver

Hi Tony,
I am as impressed with your work as the other users' posts.
i'm very new to both CSS and php; then when wanting to use phpBB, i was bothered with their table layouts.
I know this thread is a little old and i just joined the forum, but do you think you could also email me the template files ?

and by the way, i'm starting by using dreamweaver8 as a development tool. do you think it's a good idea or would you recommend starting with another tool ?

Thanks a lot.

Do not worry about bumping old threads; it revives em and gives us nice insights into the past Laughing out loud

As for Dreamweaver, use it in Code view by all means, but a lot of members here would suggest NEVER using the design view - it's innacurate and flawed.

Most of us use text editors - there's a sticky in one section with reviews of the ones we use.

Hey thepineapplehead, thanks for the dreamweaver tip.
i'll try to stick to text.
it's just that when starting, i feel a little weak just going with a text editor... ("a little" ??? who am i kidding...)

what about the phpBB css templates, any idea how i could get them ?
i guess that would help me tremendously, as i would "only" have to style them to my needs, and i would rather start from something already built. (that feeling of deep weakness again...)

If you feel comfortable using Dreamweaver's design view, use it by all means. We don't mind what you use, we'll still help you if you get stuck Laughing out loud

I won't answer on Tony's behalf as I don't know how he would feel about it, but I don't think he would mind giving you some info on how he converted this site.

Hi lostnerd,
This forum is heavily modded.
It would cause you more trouble then it's worth to try and use the template files.
You would be best off removing one table at a time from the templates and testing as you go.
