Hey guys,

I just launched my new project, I was going for a subtle, less demanding design, would love any feedback, and if you come across any broken links, weirdness of any sort, crooked layout, please let me know....Laughing out loud

Laughing out loud Nice one! Love the tabbed links.

It's a very professional design; althgouh I don't like the corners on the images for FEATURED.

New Site!!!

hey, Thanks!

you know it's funny that you should mention those corner images, I had kind of the same thoughts, but was not sure what to change it to yet..

Happy to hear any ideas Laughing out loud

Do you think a smaller corner image on the right side as opposed to the left, would look better?

The right corner would possibly look better. Have you tried the whole picture, too? That could work as well.

Also, the text on your menu (About, Archives, etc...) is pretty much unreadable because it's so light. I'm using a good, 17inch crt monitor, and it's even hard for me to read. On an LCD, this would be worse. I would consider a stronger contrast between font and background.

Otherwise, you've got a really nice looking site. I'm quite jealous.

New Site!!!

nice site, looking good.

some suggestions:

- i dont like the (big) corners either; they seem to cut out the important part of the screenshotsites (logo). I think I would keep it like your other boxes, white border/grey bg.
- date in the right corner (permalink) could be smaller (2 clicks) and on 1 line, looks better. maybe different format: april 5, 05
- menu hover is better readable, I would take some time and play with the background/color settings
- your a:hover is adding some extra space (margin/padding?) so, the text is jumping around when hovering on a normal link.

enough? Tongue good luck !

It's not extra space; it's enboldened text.

The site looks a little odd the way it's just floating there. Could you maybe have the top and bottom bars repeat across so that they look a lil better?

Heres an example: http://www.canadacustomelevator.com This sites top bar stretched from left to right without the site "floating" in the middle with nothing attached. Or you could just close the bars on either side. Not bad site btw. But the corners on those pics are WAY too big. You should either remove them, or just make them smaller.

wow... Smile

Hey, I'd like to give you all a big Thank you, for all your great feedback...

I'm gonna be changing a few things, evidently no one likes the corners, I'm not one to ignore advice, so they're OUT!...lol

the floating: I'll do something about that too.. I'll either change the actual page background to contrast and thus create an ending to both sides, or extend them thus make the page look wider.

these changes will propably be made later today, would love for you to check back.

looks way better, still would leave out the , with the date, you dont need it verticaly.

Boxes look way better now.

I noticed still some jumping to the right with the RESOURCES section. And also it fails a bit on the W3C validator.

good luck and take a break Tongue

New Site!!!

Hey thanks for the heads up, it was stupid of me not to check the counter tags Laughing out loud
It's validating now...

Also, the resources page jumps because there is no longer a verticle scroll... I'm afraid until the resource section fills up enough to have a scroll, it will keep on hopping to the side ..lol

B.t.w. is anyone here participating in the May 1st Reboot?

wisbin - it's just personal opinion but I think your site needs a stronger header as at the moment there is nothing to guide the eye about the page. I suspect that most people will be first pulled to the 'Jones' picture, which is not what you want. If I were you I would give the logo and primary navigation more visual weight. And change that bright blue as it looks horrid (IMHO). Try a darker, dusky blue like the bed-head in the shauninman picture. Why not move the primary nav links up from the 'pages' and onto the top bar? Whatever you do, I think the header still has some way to go, although I appreciate how much work you have put in so far and am not trying to knock you - just to help if I can.

hi roytheboy...

poor wisbin, I bet you confused the heck out of him..lol
I think this was addressed to me Smile

I get knocked down...but I get up again......

Thanks for your honest feedback, I appreciate it and somewhat agree with you, the thing is, it really wasn't alot of work, I wanted something that was up, and was low maintenance, turned out, it was more maintenance in the design aspect then first assumed..

I am creating a new template..yet again... infact this one incoperates the navigation in the header, my logo has to stay as is...maybe give it more spunk....

I love it...thank you, not the blue, I mean your comment, very honest and very true..

would love to hear your feedback once the new style is up Smile
