Just looking for an opinion on the site I am working on for the church I attend:
http://www.eaglesnestministries.com
Two kids at the church said it was "boring". I guess there isn't enough flashy, spinny animated gifs and background midi files.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions for me?
Thanks.

Gah, it's huge!
I like it, but I guess it appeals to the older people.

A few quick opinions for you based on a very quick look at the home page (without looking at the source or CSS):
The colours are drab and depressing. Add a very little bit of one other bright colour (try a rich yellow) and the page will probably be transformed.
The text is too large for average tastes.
The header graphic is unnecessarily large and needs more space above it for the design to 'breath'.
The mouse-over boxes first open in the top left (Mac_FF), then they reappear by the curser. This gives a fast flashing effect that not only looks bad but could also be dangerous for some people.
Never use underlined text for anything other than links to other pages or you'll confuse people who have got used to the way that 99% of web interfaces work.
Sorry that I'm so negative but you did ask!

It looks alright ...the text is very large, the whole thing looks massive!
1 thing - maybe you could make the titles stand out a little more - just darken them a little as i think it would get rid of the 'bland' thing that seems to be going on.
Pictures may be a good idea for the kid you mentioned - were they bored by look or content?
like the pop up window over the links/messages at the top

I do agree that the graphical text is abit too large. I like the overall clean look, some one mentioned that it would appeal to older people, and I do agree with that.
Suggestions:
Maybe a header and a matching footer, to make the page flow better.
All around though, I do like it, and of course it depends on your client, do they want something fun, or something subtle... that can be a burden on the designer sometimes, but you just have to find a way to let your creative spark do its magic

Yeah, it's too chunky, like that mama's burger eddie murphy once mentioned in his stand-up. More content needs to be seen at one time (less scrolling) and the font could be bumped down a few sizes overall.
I do like the organization of the main elements though, and the font family for the header is appropriate. I wish the popups would move as the mouse moves though. This would keep the event text more visible and accessible to really old people. Finally, add some gambling links. These people need a reason to pray for forgiveness each sunday. [-o<
