After some good fine tuning and stuff, I think my site is really to be checked. I personally feel that I'm missing something, but can't seem to point out what.

I'd like you to be ruthlessly honest and critque, because i don't like to show the world crap. So if you hate it, don't hesistate to say it. Tell me where I need improvement, or if I should redo the site all together.

If you like it, then tell me what parts of the site you like, and maybe what parts I could improve on.

Here's the link: http://xeek.trap17.com/beta/

Cheers,

Anthony

A site check - for my almost ready site

Beautiful. It's pretty (tested in mozilla, firefox, ie6, and opera), clean (totally validates), and fast (4.16 seconds on a 56Kbps connection). You even included the height and width attributes for your images. I could cry. Great work.

A site check - for my almost ready site

Hi Whyme
Very clean looking site.
to be honest - nothing got my attention! do you know what i mean - there was nothing there to distract me for a few seconds before i delve into your writings.
As Antibland said, clean, tidy good code and CSS as far as i looked.

Make me stare at something before i start reading

Other wise a great looking site

fatfreddy,

Good point. Actually, I should have brought this up in my last post. The header (Welcome to my first blog post) needs to be more biting. Look at this page for example. You know what the subject is right away. Then you eye naturally leads you further down to the meat of the content.

Just one little thing i noticed in the CSS
a:hover{
color: #993300;
text-decoration: underline;
}

a{
color: #993300;
text-decoration: none;
}

the a:hover should come after the a

as in
a{
color: #993300;
text-decoration: none;
}
a:hover{
color: #993300;
text-decoration: underline;
}

Pineapple head had a little thing to remember the order
i think it was
LoVe HAte
L - a:link
V - a:visited
H - a:hover
A - a:active

apparently they only work properly in this order (not 100%, im still pretty new at this too)

Antibland,
that's it isn't it - doesn't need to be a graphic or anything just something to let you kow where you are and if you want to stay!

He's correct about the links. You can read why the order is such over here from the master himself.

Hehe, Thanks to each and everyone of you for the suggestions and wonderful comments. Regarding, the "Welcome to my first Blog post", it was just some filler text, so I'll think of a better topic next time. Tongue

Regard fatfreddy's suggestion about "having something to stare at", I'm stuck at what I should do, should I add more graphics?

I've also fixed the a: and a:hover problem.

Once again, thanks to all for the suggestions and comments,

i dont think you should overload the page with graphics or anything - you just need that one attention grabber IMHO
having said that, unless you have a great pic that's relevant to what you're blogging about then.......

sorry not that helpful a post really

I see, I'll try and see if I can find any attention grabbers. Smile
