Here's the link: http://ticklebug.typepad.com/template_practice/

If you look at it in Firefox, it's perfect and the way the content background for the sidebar and the posts should look. But when I check it in IE, the white background for the content and sidebar smear all over each other.

I been playing around with this for almost 6 hours already, and haven't gotten anywhere. Can someone tell me what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks so much! Smile

Whilst I can see that you have this page in a folder called template_practise and that you left the required attribution in the style sheet, read the section where the author states that" this design is not a template and may not be reproduced without permission" , although a gray area with the Creative commons licence you can not just lift a persons design wholesale and re-use it as your own this is especially true of the images which remain the copyright of the owner and which if used without permission constitute an infringement, have you sought permission from the author?

To be honest taking a working layout and breaking it then asking others to fix it for you is not a great thing to do.

There are 3 things to never talk about in public unless you want trouble:

Religion, politics and women. Laughing out loud

If you're going off-topic and it's not interesting or humerous for others to read, can you use the PM system please - thanks Smile

My Template Doesn't Work in IE

I was just about to say the same thing ,
lads a couple of little digressive posts are fine, but many more than that ain't interesting to others and starts going far too off topic and detracting from the semi serious point of the replies.
As Roy says there is a PM system for that purpose.

My Template Doesn't Work in IE

Very interesting set of replies here.

First of all, I DID get permission. I was advised that as long as I gave credit on my blog that it was fine, and I did just that for a very good price as well. Smile

Oh and thanks for giving me my political profile. That shows your maturity and how well and fast you jump to conclusions. I'm not going to bother getting into politics here, but if you read my blog, you would know that I'm no where near being a "far lefty" as you presume so. You would also see how the Liberals think I'm too conservative.

Well, that's two conclusions about me you jumped to and were wrong. I'm very dissapointed with this forum. I didn't get an email back soon enough from Emiliano Pennisi, the creator of that layout in time, so I thought I'd ask my questions here.

Now, knowing how rude and presumptious you people are here, I will not come back again.

So, flame on and have some more fun! Laughing out loud

Ticklebug,
Looks as though I owe you an apology then, if I had bothered to scroll down to the bottom of the page I would have seen the credit acknowledgement.

In my defense though I did make mention of the fact that your page was in a folder named template_test or something and that you had left the designers comments in the stylesheet , my question as to whether you had sought permission Was not a rhetorical one.

I'm afraid it's an assumption too easily made given the number of designs that are blatantly lifted and it does put peoples backs up,
Clearly in this instance we jumped to the wrong conclusion and do owe you an apology.

What might have helped was just a brief note in the original post alluding to the fact that this was permitted usage.

Yes, I had even typed an entry about the man who created that design and showered him with compliments on my blog.

FYI, that link I gave you all was not the link to my blog. My REAL blog site is located in the signature line of my posts here. I use the "Template Practice" site only for modifications, CSS, and HTML doodling.

I only kept the author's comments in my CSS to encourage others to contact him as well if they wanted to use his creation.

I didn't think I needed a disclaimer as my credits did exist on my blog. You see, I'm a member of the "Blogger Forum" (http://www.bloggerforum.com/) where the members are always clicking on the link to my real blog and never before had made any assumptions about me. So, me being used to that kind of interaction with people, I had never suspected fingers would be pointing at me here.

To all those who apologized, apology accepted. I will be more careful from now on and post a disclaimer.

I still don't understand what my political beliefs has to do with all of this, but then again, there's a lot I don't understand. Cool

Is this a Republican site :?: [/url]

Ticklebug,
thankyou for accepting the apologies, with hindsight you bent over backwards to give due attribution we were at fault for not examining things more closely.

Please do not give up on us too quickly, were not a terrible bunch really Smile

Please ignore those rather obtuse and inappropriate political comments if that's what they were, they had little bearing on matters as we pointed out to them. this is a site dealing with code I don't think politics figures much normally

Ticklebug - As you're back, please accept my apology too ...it's just that we see a lot of ripp-offs on this forum - especially from csszengarden - and as a designer who has previously had an entire commercial site copied (all except for the logotype), I for one tend to over-react to such practices. As for the political comments: ignore them and move on. Life's too short.
