Would like some feedback on this site. It's my first "real" attempt and I've based it off of the GENU 2.1 software.

Thanks in advance!

From a style point of view (and this is purely personal) I don't like your graphics or colours. From a functional point of view, I'd like to see your bulleted links under 'Latest news' indented - to do that, you'd have to actually code the links as a list (<ul><li> etc.). You can then use CSS to make the bullet points whatever image you choose. MaxDesign's Listmatic is good place to go for info on this.
Other than that, everything seems to display OK.

How to get help
Post a link. If you can't post a link, jsFiddle it.

I'm afraid I have to agree. aesthetically I found it all a bit too much colour wise. I also think the navigation was poor in that it felt like you wanted everything effectively on one page. "News Headlines" to me means something brief, however it's very detailed and goes on and on and on and on .... I think you could display this better navigationally (if there's such a word!).

I see what you mean when you say you based it on Genu, but I think their boxes make the different sections very obvious and easy to distinguish, and you don't have to scroll too much. scrolling that much is annoying.

nevertheless, great start. onwards and upwards!

Ok, I've changed a few things with the site such as the banner/logo and some color changes.

Any better? worse?

Thanks for the comments/ suggestions!

For some reason you have the right column displaced 190?px from the right. The un-needed 'margin' means the layout breaks at any window <1024px wide. Without the shift, it would render ok at 800px wide.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

The good news is the layout doesn't crumble with text resizing.

Agreed about the color scheme - the whole site is too cramped. I like the different sections, although definitely use a list, and each news item (headline) could be separated by a bar, like you have under the headings.

Good though, keep up the good work.

Recheck this site please. It should be working under IE6 and Firefox. How's it look in other browsers? I checked it at 800x600 as well.

Thanks!

just had a quick look in ff and I think you've made great improvements visually. much easier to read. I found the xbox/ps2/game boy icons a bit fuzzy and some difficult to read. otherwise I think you're doing a good job.

although the style isn't my personal preference I think it's now more readable and easier to see the different sections since you added in the defining lines.

I find the yellow link text more eye catching than your orange headline text. So the things that I first see on your page are
- www.eyeongames.com
- send to a friend
- comment this item

rather than, Exclusive Access to Guild Wars for Pre-Order Customers.

I think that is kind of back-to-front,

switched the colors around on the links and headers. Not sure about the link color now. Is it ok or should it be a diff color?

Thanks! I think the header color stands out better now tho.
