Hello,

I have a problem i'm trying to deal with and can't seem to find the answer. I am trying to make a table with a position:fixed, so it remains static on the viewport (as w3c defines in the chapter about positioning scheme). However, just giving the table the attribute of style="position: fixed;" isn't enough appearantly. I also tried giving it a display: block;, but this also doesn't help. Is there no way to fix-postion a table? Should I just include it inside a DIV tag, and give the div the position I desire? That seems like an ugly way around it...

fixed positioning in tables

Hello,

Well, first, thanks for the article, it's a great resource, I didn't know IE doesn't support position: fixed.
Second, the solutions are nice, but still don't perform as neccesary. The table's position that I need to fix is relative to its place in the document, and if I use the solutions presented there, I have to pull it out of the normal flow, put everything else in a containing div, and then I can't calculate the position in which the table should be fixed (it depends, for instance, on the user's screen resolution).
