Hi,

I'd appreciate extra sets of IE 5 Mac eyes at the following:

http://www.iaspm-us.net/new_design/index.html

Hovering over any link causes the table cells on the left column to expand drastically and the text in the "About IASPM" paragraph to shuffle.

I've narrowed down the problem to the "border-bottom" attribute of a:hover, but everything I've seen says border-bottom is safe with IE 5 Mac. When I remove border-bottom (or filter it out for IE 5 Mac) everything works fine.

Note, too, the odd line break in "Journal of Popular Music Studies" in the grey "NEWS" section. Removing "border-bottom" from a:hover also results in a normal line break.

Other pages on the site use the same .css file, but IE 5 Mac behaves properly. It's just this one page and I'm really stumped!

Here's the relevant CSS code (there is no a:link style set):

a:visited {
	color: #336699;
}

a:hover {
	border-bottom: 1px dotted navy;
	text-decoration: none;
}

Any insight into this little matter is greatly appreciated. I've been staring at it for two days now Smile

Thanks,
Glenn

IE 5 Mac and border-bottom wackiness

Hi Glenn,
Have you tried something like this:

a:visited {
border-bottom:1px dotted transparent;
   color: #336699;
}

Hope that helps
