Hi everyone.

I just got a collection of major layout problems solved through the CSS Layout Generator (find it at the bottom of this page).

Thankyou CSS Creator.

Anyhow, my template is finished and i am looking for artistic contributions (in terms of colour, size, font etc.)

The page is http://www.tm4b.com/index_xp.php.

Thanks in advance.

Looking for artistic contributions!

Can't really give any at this point. Looks like content is still being worked on. But the look is very professional if a little minimalist at this point.

Sorry if that's too vague

Looking for artistic contributions!

Thanks.

Indeed content is being worked on.

With regards to minimalist, i have always had an attraction to minimilism on websites, but i am not sure if that's for everybody else!

Oh and I meant to add that I'm viewing on Mac FF and I checked it on Safari and they look identical! I'm disregarding checking on Mac IE as I hope the world is letting that one die. . .

Minimalist is good. Hate those sites that are so crowded you can't find the links! and Thanks for not loading it up with Flash distractions!

Thanks for the praises.

I just hope that the whole thing works! (i.e. succeeds)

The <h1> might work, but the left menu was to faded out.

I've left yours in place until any further recommendations!

I'm not much on colors, but whatever you decide for h1, do the same for the menu:hover. Speaking of hover, disappearing the right border makes the menu appear to jump as you rollover the options. It becomes very annoying. It works much better without a:hover {border-right: 1px solid #fff;}.

I'm surprised the client is letting you get away with something so attractively simple.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Thanx for the advice.

I removed the border-right hover effect and made h1, active menu item as well as menu:hover the same colour.

Any ideas what that colour should be? I don't want the site to be so simple that it's completely boring, but it should look proffessional.

By the way... i am the client (this is my site).

Now check out this page http://www.tm4b.com/web-to-sms_xp/

Any idea for the hover-over colour in the main paragraphs!

Ok! I think i may have ruined the look with the blue.

Anyone like to make a comment?

From what I remember, I preferred the styling as you had it when you first posted in this thread. It was simple but stylish and nicely balanced. Your changes are spoiling the way that the initial design naturally led the eye to the right places in the right order.

Thanks for the advice.

I've reverted most of the changes.

Any more advice fellow CSS Creators?

Ok. here is another one.

Would it be better with a seperate login page as shown here

http://www.tm4b.com/index_xp.php

or with a login box at the top right as shown here (unstyled)

http://www.tm4b.com/index_xp.php?password=yes

fambi - you're asking questions that are very personal to taste and unlike some people who ask for aesthetic advice, you seem to have a pretty good eye for design already. I can tell tell you that I prefer the page title in blue, and that I would probably prefer a very subtle background yellow rollover on the nav links, but that's just my personal opinion. I think you may be over-analysing things now Wink As for the login: You might as well stick it up the top as you have the room and it looks impressive to have a secure area of the site; but not everyone is going to agree. I feel that you should learn to have more confidence in your own eye for design which, in my opinion, is a good one.

On a CSS note, how can i limit the minimum-width of the whole thing to (say) 780px and allow it to expand to full screen as it currently is.
