As I wanted getting rid of my old table-layouts I started a very simple trial using a div and absolute positioning...

It´s only one div and it´s style is defined as follows:

html, body {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px
}

div.simpleframe {
position: absolute;
top: 5px;
left: 5px;
right: 5px;
bottom: 5px;
border: 1px solid black
}

I expect to see a border with a distance of 5px from the browsers viewport and this is true for Mozilla and Firefox but not for IE6. IE seems to respecht the top and left distance, but cannot adjust the width and height, so that the result is a 2x2px-rect in the left upper corner. DOCTYPE is set to XHMTL 1.0 Strict and I checked whether IE really is in standards-mode.

As my trial seems very basic and simple to me, it really drives me mad to see that it doesn´t work!

I hope there´s anyone who helps me not freaking out!! ;o)
