Hi,

I've built a site at www.balloonmessages.co.uk which looks ok in IE5/Opera.

In IE6 however it looks completely different - a <div> on the left, which should be coloured dark blue and aligned under the 'S' in Santana completely disappears!

Anyone help????? :?:

I've attached a file containing

IE6 &amp; left margin &amp; positioning problems

Hi gypmaster,
you made a typo in #leftcolbk left out a "p" in top: 201x;
Also you should go a little easy on position absolute, try putting different colored borders around the everything and you will see some of the elements aren't doing what you want.
Positioning things absolutely takes elements out of the normal document flow.

The doctype you have used is not finished you have left of the closing ">"
and path. Although strangely this makes no difference in this case as the browser seems to still think the page is CSS1 compatable.

Hope that helps.

re: positioning

Hi Tony,

Thanks for that - I'm pretty new to css so forgive my inexperience.

I've changed the stylesheet to try to position everythin without using 'absolute'. It works except for the central text.

I couldn't finad another way of positioning it where I want it - in the middle - without using absolute,

Have I missed something?

Thanks in advance.
