Here it is:

http://www.templeofdagon.com/new/

None of the links work, since I am still working on perfecting the functionality before I go too much further with transfering the old site to this, but you should be able to get an idea.

I have only tested with IE6, Firefox, and Netscape 4.78.

There is a basic style sheet for older browsers, a standard one for modern ones, and one for printing.

Please take a look and let me know! thanks.

Working on new CSS based layout

Hi compmatt,
Great looking site.
If you got it working in Netscape 4 you deserve a round of applause =D>

It also looks fine in Opera and konqueror on Linux, even in Opera's Small screen view.

Thank you for the nice words! Smile

Glad to hear it works in those as well..

It of course looks a bit different in Netscape 4.. I kept it perhaps a little more basic than I needed to for that, so hopefully it will also be viewable in pdas, phones, etc..

Working on new CSS based layout

Works for me on mobile phone and pda, but I use them without a proprietary browser for testing purposes. I found Opera's small screen format lulled me, personally, into a false sense of security. So, on my kit, the images are missing and the links and text don't show up well against the dark body background. No problem with the links on focus, however. Content is similarly indistinct, but, hold the screen in a certain light and it can be read easily. Sorry, I don't have a gadget on my fridge :!:

Ah I see... since most phones etc.. are processing the import command and getting the 'full' css file, they are interpreting the #3D1E1C for the background, but are not using the main image which gives the lighter column...

I suppose I should use a lighter color for the actual background in my main css, and use an image solution for the sides of the main column.. if that makes sense Tongue

I will try to fix real quick and let you know, in case you feel like testing again in a bit Smile

Edit: I simply gave my main container div a light background color! Would you mind testing once again? Smile

Hi,
Tested again but no discernable difference. However, contemporaneously, the screen version still had the dark background. Please don't assume that what I do constitutes *most* phones. I expect *most* people use their wap phones with proprietary software, which is an even bigger headache than IE versus Gecko. I wouldn't suggest you change your screen design, it's good, but there are separate media= for small devices, so perhaps a separate stylesheet would work and make the site quicker to download on these gadgets. Can't be sure though.

I feel foolish.. I forgot to upload the changes Tongue

I have a feeling it would work ok now, but I hate to bother you to test once again. It is up to you! Smile

I looked into the handheld specifications, but unfortunately it looks like there is even less 'standards' when it comes to pdas and phones than even different browsers.. some interpret both screen and handheld.. some neither.. etc.. Smile

Still here ... I've been clearing my caches (cough :!Smile Still no difference on screen or small device, but I really wouldn't worry about that. Keep your screen design.

I *try* to get around the lack of standards, by a stylesheet set up as if for a text-only site. That is all white with black text. Small devices are in their infancy and *most* mobile/pda surfers would be glad to get anything, let alone a web site with the wow factor. If "text-only" doesn't work for some - then so be it, for the time being. Maybe, if any standards come along, together with appropriate media types, web developers would stand some sort of a fighting chance Wink
