The following two pages use precisely the same html and css code. So how is it possible for one to validate properly while the other generates several errors?

- Wendy Peck's "CSS No Crap Primer" (no errors)

- Copy of page on my server (3 errors)

I'm using this site to validate the pages: http://validator.w3.org/

HTML validation strangeness

Hi hand,
View the source and you will see that the code is not exactly the same.
One has a doctype the other has not.

Hope that helps

HTML validation strangeness

Thanks for the quick answer, Tony.

I use the MyIE2 browser, which has a plugin called "ViewSource!". I just now noticed that, strangely enough, it doesn't show everything that one sees when one selects the View->Source menu in IE. For some reason the MyIE2 "ViewSource!" plugin cuts off everything above the opening <HTML> tag, which is where the doctype info was located.
