How do, hopefully this is the first fully CSS & XHTML valiid site I've created. It uses lots of things - PHP to include the news, and numerous stylesheets.

Could you guys please have a look, and tell me if I could do anything better?

IE users won't be able to use the stylesheets as I haven't put that code in yet.

Cheers!

nice! very clean design, and i really like the way you handled the overlapping date box for each bit of news. i thought it was a little dark at first, but changed my mind rather quickly as i studied it. nice site!

If you use the different stylesheets, there's some subtle changes. The Green is the same as standard, only . . . green. High Contrast is less images and brighter text.

I'm also gonna do a negative version, and a plain one. Any other style suggestions?

Just a couple of points in Opera your height/overflow properties are causing problems with page content only extending half the scrollable page area and setting two vertical scrollbars and in FF my mouse wheel is disabled which is a phenomenon that I've noticed before but can't pin down the problem, expect to say that editing the crosshair attribute ( which I tend to think may be the problem) causes FF to crash wiping out the cache, which in itself is probably not a great worry as most people won't be attempting to edit the CSS. Still I find it interesting that certain style sheets can tend to cause upset to FF just wish I could id why.

Hugo.

I had noticed the scrollbar was disabled, although I didn't know it was due to the crosshair attribute. I'll take that out and see if it fixes it.

Could you be a bit more specific? I didn't code the scrollbar/overflow code in the body or html, my friend did, so I'm not sure if it's necessary.

I haven't tested in Opera, but I have tested in IE and FF, and am pleased with the result.

The content area as exists is a little over a 100% of the viewport area, in FF you have the normal single browser scrollbar which will scroll the last 100px or so. In Opera the viewport or page area is some 3/400px longer than the actual contents so you are getting a scrollbar for the contents and then a second one which is scrolling the extended blank page beneath, (hope that makes sense) I would have thought it has something to do with the max-height on the body or the overflow properties and am not sure as to why they have been used? probably worth commenting them out.
overflow:auto on the html, body knocks out the Mouse Wheel

Nice site, I like the clean design. In Safari 1.2.4 there is no scroll bar though. I can see all of the text if I make the window wide enough but if there was limited space it might be a bit of a problem. I have no idea why this would happen as I'm only new to this game. In IE 5.2 Mac it only shows a black screen. FYI
