I use photoshop for my images and my sites work well, but I come accross these sites all the time that have these unbelievable defined images. The only way I can do this is to make the image so clear it takes forever to load.
Look at this site: http://csszengarden.com/?cssfile=http://bvproject.free.fr/a_flock_of_seagulls/bv.css
the background image is huge! How do they compress it so it loads so fast? Is there a secret to images that I am missing?
Please help!

You have all the tools you need within Photoshop, you just need to read up on how to use them better. I've only ever used Photoshop yet I can produce images sharper than most yet smaller in filesize than most. Experiment with what you've got.
