I'm working on a site in which I've included the footer at the bottom of each page, so that all footers on all pages (except for the home page) are exactly the same.

Well. . . I have a renegade footer! The footer shows up perfectly on all pages EXCEPT FOR the "movies" page on my site, in which the image is hanging out on the left for no good reason at all.

This problem is only in Mozilla/Firefox--everything looks fine in IE 6.0, btw.

The css and html all validate. I've looked at margins and paddings and divs, you name it. I'm hoping a CSS expert can shed some light on this absolute mystery!

Here's a "normal" example page on the site where the footer looks perfect:

And here the page with the renegade footer:

Please help me figure out why, on this ONE page, when the footer code is the same on all pages, the image in the footer is acting so oddly!

THANKS!

other problem as well

Hi larn,

i don't see a solution to your problem yet, but i want to add that the problem doesn't occur in opera 7.51 on WinXP SP2.
Though another problem is visible there: a small part from the left side dissapears and no horizontal scroller is available (see attachment)

I'll try to help you but i'm not an expert

kind greetings, de Jef

One renegade footer . . .

I noticed that in Opera, too. .. but fortunately this site's visitors tend not to use Opera. . . and I think I can live with this one error. . .. this one issue in Mozilla/firefox is just killing me though--I've tried everything in the book!

Hoping someone can suggest something.

Really?? The trees in the footer sit on the right side of the page for you??

no,

i see the problem FF 1.0 also.

It it pretty weird, had a hard look at it and cant explain. I would fix it with adding a clearing method like:

<div style="clear:both;"></div> before the footer container

It seems to me, the float is messing up positioning, but I cant specify it.

BUT, although this clear solves your problem, i could suggest another method. You could place the tree as a background for the #footer p. Edit the margin-right into a padding-right and it should work. If you dont need a link on it, this should work.

#footer p {
background: transparent url(http://timeforcake.com/mvp/images/footer-trees.gif) no-repeat right center;
...
}

cheers!

Yes, at this point in time, just adding a clearing div above the image does seem to be the way to go since this is only occuring on one page..

I just got so caught up in attempting to understand WHY this odd event was occurring that I stopped thinking about alternatives. I'll just chalk this weirdness up to a mystery and add my div now.

Thanks everyone!

:? nope the two pages are identical the two little trees sit to the right of the footer address text spaced by about 4px .
So confused now as to what both of you are actually seeing, my observations made in Win98 FF V 0.8 and XP FF v 0.10.1 pr ,
Am I just being very dense here ? more than likely Smile
