The Firefox D/L servers are overwhelmed with people D/L FF1.
You can get in the back door, however:

This is a direct FTP link to FF1:
Zip 1.0/win32/en-US or
Installer 1.0/win32/en-US

Enjoy

What about extensions? Are the extensions that worked with the pre-release supported in the full release? I never archived any of the xpi files and the site is so swamped you can't even see if updates available.

Thought I was having a problem with my firewall/ dns cache Mozilla was taking so long to resolve they always did have a problem with the texturiser site being slow guess it's time for them to upgrade
Very useful link DE, many thanks.
Just hope this version is good for more than a week getting slightly bored installing new ones, never became comfortable with archiving of the extensions and themes , must have a proper look at the configuration  but would have thought that present ones in the 'preview' would function in the full version 1.0 release?

A number of the extensions no longer work, I'm sorry to say and some of the themes have yet to be updated. It will likely take only a few weeks for the extensions to catch up. I suspect this release level will stay stable for a while with only major bug|security glitches getting patched.

However, what does work is the WebDeveloper toolbar and the GMail notifier. What does not is Past and Go, Googlebar, Image zoom and various tab tools. Hmmm - those are the ones I can see. Spiderzilla and Mozedit have disappeared completely.

Check your Javascript preferences after install - it seems to default to JS not being able to alter status bar text. I use some bookmarklets that rely on status bar feedback so having that enabled is a must.

Best to always check the release notes.

Seems to be mainly security fixes 8-[ .

Does anybody have any news on Portable Firefox 1.1? I know the author says don't email him asking when it's done, but does anybody know?

Good good - but keeping in mind, this is total DOWNLOADS, not total users.

This is like Mcdonalds - one million served refers to the patties served, not customers.

Still, Portable Firefox 1.0.2 is out and I'm using it now. There's a 1.0.3 beta out but I don't know whether to try it.

So . . . no point waiting for the 1.0.5 English or using the 1.0.5 American one then? Just wait for 1.0.6.

/ Edit

1.0.6 is out. Nice Laughing out loud

Just wanted to update my original post that started this thread. The current Mozilla FTP site address is:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/
and all the releases can be found there. If you bookmark this you get quick and easy backdoor access while gazillions wait in line at the front. Since the FTP is simpler from a server standpoint you reduce bandwidth for them as well.

For those extension addicts there is a directory with all the "official" extensions at:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/
