for this site: http://www.sidney.ars.usda.gov/

i have white links on the left and i have blue link in the body of the page. my problem is that with css (i am now switching the site to css instead of using font tags)...i can't figure out how to do white links and blue links...

everything that i've found on the internet and in books...just talks about active links, visited links, etc. but i want multiple active link colors.

some advice anyone?

thanks,

collene

multiple active link colors? how?

Ok here you go.. I made an example page demonstrating 2 different link colours. Test it out

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>Links</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<style type="text/css">
<!--
a.white:link {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #FFFFFF;
}
a.white:visited {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #FFFFFF;
}
a.white:hover {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #CCCCCC;
}
a.white:active {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #0099FF;
}
a.blue:link {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #0099FF;
}
a.blue:visited {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #00CCFF;
}
a.blue:hover {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #FFFFFF;
}
a.blue:active {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #CC0000;
}
-->
</style>
</head>

<body>
<table border="1">
<tr>
<td bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width="400" height="200">
<a href="#" class="blue">Blue Links</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<table border="1">
<tr>
<td bgcolor="#00CCFF" width="400" height="200">
<a href="#" class="white">White Links</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>

ok I just re-read your post again and found "but i want multiple active link colors"

What do you mean by that actually ?

multiple active link colors? how?

If U mean multiple colors in same link then try the following :

a.multi:hover .cr {
  color : red;
}
a.multi:hover .cb {
  color : blue;
}
a.multi:hover .cg {
  color:green;
}

Then for the html :

<A class="multi" HREF="http://www.google.com"><span class="cr">Go</span><span class="cb">og</span><span class="cg">le</span></A>
