This is something I have pondered about with a colleague of mine: we are partnering with another firm on software we are developing, and this software will be branded, brought online and therefore styled etc. If anyone is familiar with partnering with a peer firm:
- how did you deal with copyright issues? who was appointed the brand owner and how did you arrive at this decision?
- how did you deal with the possibility that the design may be forked and used elsewhere and not under the terms of the partnership and therefore missing out on revenue?
- was a pro-rata scheme on effort the division between revenue: the firm who put in x% of the total hours also eligible for x% of the revenue (apart from the discussion how sunk costs will be divided)?
