If I use the clear property, then Opera shoves about 10pixels of extra whitespace in between that element and the one above it.

Firefox and IE5-6 don't exhibit this behaviour, so I'm almost certain it's an Opera bug.

I'm using XHTML transitional + URI DOCTYPE.

Additionally I notice that if I have multiple elements in a row with clear set, then the extra space only appears above the first one.

This must be a common problem, but i can't find anything about it?

Opera clear problem

I couldn't see a uri so here is a blind stab. Have you got margins and or borders set at the bottom of the element above and at the top of the element below ? Because if so the W3C spec is very odd in this regard and there are big inconsistencies between browsers. If not - I am sorry I troubled you.

No class, little style and a lotta division.

Opera clear problem

Sorry, I rarely give a page to look at since I feel I shouldn't really be showing dev projects from work in a public forum!

It's a small problem so I'm going to ignore it and carry on. Getting the opinion that Opera sucks pretty bad.
